I took the basic hand gun class for ladies only. It was awesome!! I have been raised around firearms all of my life but i was never properly taught the handling and use of a handgun. I learned so much. I recommend this class for anyone. The instructors made everyone feel very comfortable. |

I recently attended the TDSA Advanced Shotgun Class. This is my fourth class with TDSA and I am always amazed how much information the instructors can give you in two days and make it fun and exciting. If you own a shotgun you need this class!! This class will make any shotgunner better, whether you hunt or lean toward self/home defense. I know most people believe there is nothing more to shooting shotguns than point and shoot but you can not imagine how much more there is. Things like fast reloading, different shooting positions, shooting on the move, shooting offhand, transition from primary to secondary firearm and much, much more!! The classes are always fun and I cannot say enough about the instructors. TDSA instructors are always top notch shooters but they really earn top marks for the way they disect what your doing and tell you how you can do it better. I can't thank Marshall and Travis enough for helping me become a better shooter and I will see you again for another class soon! Don't be a sheep, be a sheepdog!! |

Before coming to class, I was terrified of the idea of holding not even shooting a gun. I grew up in a country where firearms were forbidden so I never had an opportunity to shoot a gun before. My husband convinced me to take this class so I feel more comfortable with the gun and able to protect myself from any intruder. After taking this class, I feel empowered and convinced that anything is possible if you put your mind into it. I really enjoyed Firearms for ladies class. Marshall and Travis were great. They were knowledgeable, funny, and not arrogant at all. I felt safe and comfortable in the class. I would recommend any lady to take this class and to know how to protect herself in " a bad situation". |

Awesome! This is the third class that I have taken under Marshall with TDSA. This particular course is a must if you are a woman who is at all interested in learning to protect yourself, especially protect yourself with a firearm. Marshall and Travis are VERY knowledgeable, but NEVER arrogant, in their approach to teach about firearms. They cover everything from you making the decision to learn to safely and effectively handle a firearm, the nomenclature, the basics of shooting, and of course, actually firing a gun. The course is not only very informative but fun! Marshall presents the material in a way that gets your attention but also has you feeling at ease with the decision to handle firearms. They are very patient and supportive, but never condescending while on the shooting range. They are right there to guide and correct without making you feel ignorant or stupid. I found myself feeling nervous but also very confident in my ability to handle my weapon, not only in shooting it but also in the technical aspects like clearing a malfunction. I would highly recommend this course to any lady who is interested in learning the safe and effective way to handle a firearm. Thank you, Marshall and Travis, for a great class! |

I am a changed woman. Seriously. I feel empowered after taking the Introduction to Firearms class for women. I went into the class absolutely terrified. I had never shot a gun before. When I was growing up I depended upon my dad to keep me safe; when I was married I depended upon my husband to keep me safe. Now that I am a single mother I realized one day that the only thing between the “bad guy” entering my house and my son is me. That is a sobering thought especially given the increasing crime in our world today. That’s exactly why I decided to take this class. I was tired of worrying what I would do if someone broke into my house and threatened me and my son. When I arrived to the class I wondered if I would seriously be able to learn to handle a gun safely, load the magazine, shoot it, and actually be able to hit something. I wondered if I would have a heart attack or cry when placed before a target for the first time (yes, I was nervous—my heart was racing, I was breathing fast, but the instructor put his hand on my back and said “I’m here, you can do this” and that made all the difference.) The class was filled with other women just like me. There were women of all ages in the class, from late 20s up to the late 60s. Many of us were terrified because we had never shot a gun before; others had some basic knowledge but wanted some expert training in a safe environment. I walked into the class timid and afraid. I walked out of the class transformed. I bought a gun two weeks before the class. Just looking at it before this class made me incredibly nervous. Now, I have a healthy respect for it and what it is capable of but I am not afraid of it. I know how to work it. I know what the different parts of it are called. I know how to load bullets into my magazine. I know how to stand when firing my gun. I know what to do if my gun jams. I know how to handle it, aim it, sight up my target and shoot it. In fact, I actually know how to shoot with some accuracy! The thrill I felt when I actually hit my target the first time was incredible. When my second bullet went through the same hole as my first shot—awe inspiring. This is not the end for me. I plan to take more classes and I plan to go to the shooting range on a regular basis. I am seriously considering getting my conceal carry. Ladies, you can and should do this. Don’t depend upon someone else to keep you safe. You are just like me. It is okay to be scared. You are not alone in your fear. But, the team at the Tulsa Defensive Shooting Academy is there for you and they want you to be safe. They will answer any question that you have and they will not ask you to stand before that target for the first time until they know you have the knowledge you need to know to shoot a firearm safely and are ready to do it. When the class is over you will be a changed woman. You will feel empowered and invigorated and you will know that you have taken the first step to keeping yourself and your loved ones safe. I am so proud of myself for taking this class and you will be too! |
